Patni Computer announces partnership for research in medical device domain

Patni Computer Systems Ltd on June 27, 2007 has announced a partnership for collaborative research activities in the medical device domain. The partnership will initially focus on bio-image signal processing with an aim to develop reusable image processing libraries and explore complex algorithms in this niche area. It will gradually move to other technology areas such as Pattern recognition, Real-time Operating Systems and Embedded wireless devices.

For this partnership, a team from the Company's Product Engineering Services division will actively work with students pursuing their M.S Program in Embedded Systems Design. Beyond development of technology, the partnership will enable students of I2IT gain a hands-on experience of the software industry and get a clear understanding of the process methodology including coding standards and industry domains.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Ajay Chamania, Sr. Vice-President, Product Engineering Services, of the Company remarked, "Patni’s engagement with I2IT is a reinforcement of its commitment to industry-academia partnerships. The caliber of the I2IT team will enrich and facilitate the joint exploration and development of novel offerings in the Medical Systems domain. The program aims to create a strong foundation for the niche Product Engineering Services space and foster talent in the industry."

The stock was trading at Rs.499.95, up by Rs.0.90 or 0.18%. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs.502.80 and low of Rs.497. The total traded quantity was 26489 compared to 2 week average of 131610.
