Chennai gets rains as depression crosses coast

The depression over southwest Bay of Bengal crossed Tamil Nadu coast near Nagapattinam between 1230 and 1330 hrs IST on the 16th November 2013. This brought much needed rains to the Chennai city.

The observatory at DGP office (Chennai Dist) recorded 2 cm of rain, Chennai(Nungambakkam) (Chennai Dist) and Chennai AP (Kancheepuram Dist) recorded 1 cm rain.

The sky condition would be generally cloudy. Few spells of rain or thundershower would occur heavy in some areas. Surface winds will be strong and gusty at times. Maximum and minimum temperature would be around 26 and 23 degree Celsius respectively.
