Cambridge introduces International AS & A level exams for the March exam series this year

In the second year of the March exam series Cambridge has seen uptake of its exams more than double. In the first series held in March 2015, there were 11,000 entries for the subjects on offer. Entries for the March exam series 2016 have more than doubled to 26,000. The new exam series is designed to help Indian students applying for places at Indian colleges and universities by releasing results in time for the March application deadlines.

The March 2016 exam series has been extended to include subjects at Cambridge International AS & A Level. Due to high demand from schools, more Cambridge IGCSE subjects will also be added to the March 2017 exam series, including History, Geography and English as a Second Language.

"Cambridge works with schools in 160 countries worldwide, providing internationally-recognised qualifications. We introduced the March examination series in India last year to help Cambridge students meet Indian college application deadlines. It is encouraging to have such a great response, notable through the doubling of entries this year, and ongoing support from teachers, parents, students and schools. We're also pleased to introduce nine subjects for Cambridge International AS & A Level in the March exam series this year to further support our students looking to get in and get on in Indian higher education," said Ruchira Ghosh, Regional Director South Asia, Cambridge International Examinations.

The March exam series is an encouraging introduction that facilitates students plan their enrollments to universities or opt for higher education as the results are in time for admission procedures in India. There are now over 360 Cambridge schools in India. More than 70,000 exam entries for Cambridge qualifications were made in June 2015 in both Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International A Level. There was a 12% increase in entries compared with 2014. In India there was a 10% increase in entries for Cambridge IGCSE, with more than 40,000 entries in the June 2015.
