TCS announces expansion of its Global Network Delivery Model^TM with a new centre in Mexico

• First major investment in Mexico by an Indian IT firm.
• Centre to serve local Mexican clients, provide near-shore services for US clients.
• Over 500 people to be hired in this financial year for the Guadalajara centre.
• Major expansion of the firm's Latin American operations, which comprises operations in 14 countries including large centres in Brazil, Chile and Uruguay.

Tata Consultancy Services has announced that it is expanding operations in Latin America by setting up its first Global Delivery Centre (GDC) at Guadalajara in Mexico.

This is the first major investment by an Indian information technology (IT) firm in Mexico and the new centre represents an important step in TCS' global strategy to further enhance its Global Network Delivery Model (GNDM^TM), allowing it to better serve its clients in Mexico and across the world.

"Apart from a strong domestic IT market, Mexico shares a similar time zone with and is within 5-6 hours flying distance from anywhere in the US, allowing us the ability to provide near-shore services for our large US client community", said N Chandrasekaran, executive vice president and head of global sales and operations for TCS.

The Guadalajara centre was inaugurated today by the president of the United States of Mexico in a ceremony which included important business, political and media leaders from the country and the state of Jalisco.

Guadalajara, the second largest city in Mexico, (with a population of over 4 million) and located in the state of Jalisco, was chosen by TCS after an extensive survey because of its accessibility, infrastructure and the available talent pool.

We will recruit the best people and train them extensively in the same high-quality processes and methodologies that we so successfully use in our operations around the world," said Ankur Prakash, general manager of TCS Mexico.

Over the last five years, TCS has set up operations in 14 countries across Iberoamerica including major centres in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay, which employ over 5000 professionals in those countries and cater to over 150 clients.

We will hire 500 people for the Mexico centre in the short term and thousands more in the next five years, as we continue to build a strong high-impact organisation in this region," said Gabriel Rozman, president of TCS Iberoamerica.
