Indian equities settled sharply lower on Thursday led by banking, consumer durables and auto stocks.

Nifty closed at 5850.70 down by 62.45 points or 1.06% over the previous day closing of 5913.15 after witnessing a low of 5815.80 and a high of 5932.00. Sensex closed at 19781.88 down by 215.57 points or 1.08% over the previous day closing of 19997.45.It touched an intraday low of 19676.49 and high of 20052.05.

The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2503 stocks traded 1166 stocks advanced, 1189 stocks declined and 148 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 07 stocks advanced and 23 stocks declined.

Among the sectors, BSE Metal, BSE Bankex and BSE Consumer Durables were the main losers of the day which decreased by 2.53%, 1.86% and 1.84% respectively.

In BSE Metal sector Tata Steel, JSW Steel, and Coal India decreased by 4.13%,3.16% and 2.81% respectively. In BSE Bankex sector Yes Bank, Indusind Bank, and Kotak Mah Bnak declined by 7.32% 5.50% and 2.27% respectively. In BSE Consumer Durables sector VIP Inds, TTK Prestige and Titan Inds decreased by 4.37% 2.64% and 2.50% respectively.
