Sensex closes up 28.07 points at 17996.15 - Microsec

Indian equities cooled off on Wednesday after corrected sharply in the previous two trading sessions.

Nifty closed at 5285.00 down by 2.45 points or 0.05% over the previous day closing of 5287.45 after witnessing a low of 5118.85 and a high of 5317.70. Sensex closed at 17996.15 up by 28.07 points or 0.16% over the previous day closing of 17968.08.It touched an intraday low of 17448.71 and high of 17996.15.

The markets' breadth was tight. Out of 2337 stocks traded 855 stocks advanced, 1348 stocks declined and 134 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 19 stocks advanced and 11 stocks declined.

Among the sectors, BSE IT, BSE Metal and BSE Teck were the main gainers of the day which increased by 2.68%, 1.88% and 1.79% respectively.

In BSE IT sector Financial Tech, Wipro, and Mphasis increased by 6.80%,3.63% and 3.41% respectively. In BSE Metal sector SAIL, Jindal Steel and JSW Steel advanced by 5.22% 3.69% and 3.41% respectively. In BSE Teck sector TCS, HCL Tech and Mindtree increased by 3.68% 3.12% and 2.81% respectively.
