Short Covering by traders Indian Markets to gain 2% - Eastern Financiers

Short covering by traders helped markets end their four-day losing streak as indices cloaked in decent gains in the fourth trading day of the week. Also, firm European cues and strong Chinese economic data added steam to the rally.

Nifty closed at 5408.45, up 105.90 points or 2 percent and Sensex zoomed 407.03 points or 2.27 percent to conclude trade at 18312.94.

All the sectoral indices barring the realty index, ended in the green, gaining between 0.25-8.23 percent.
