Sensex ends higher by 55 points - Standard Chartered Securities

In early trade, key benchmark indices edged lower on weak Asian stocks.

A bout of volatility was witnessed as the bourses trimmed losses soon after hitting intraday low in early trade. Moved into the positive terrain to hit fresh intraday high in mid-morning trade as bargain hunting emerged after share prices declined sharply on Thursday.

Hovered in green in afternoon trade as European markets edged higher in early trade and as trading in US index futures indicating a recovery in US stocks at open on Friday, 21 June 2013.

Volatility dominated as the markets reversed intraday gains and slipped into the red in mid-afternoon trade.

Sensex ended higher 55 points and Nifty closed 12 points in the green.

Midcap and Small Cap Index underperformed relative to the Sensex. Mid-Cap Index was 1.3% down and Small-Cap Index ended lower 0.4%.

Market breadth: Negative. Declines were 1.4 times Advances.
