Jet Airways India Ltd has announced that the Company has become the first private airline to establish its own Hangar in Mumbai, to carry out major & line maintenance checks for its fleet of Boeing and ATR aircraft. This hangar can accommodate two Boeing Aircraft 737-series plus one ATR Aircraft at any given time.
Set up at a cost of USD 15 million, the Hangar is capable of undertaking ´C´ check and major maintenance work for Boeing 737-series aircraft as also for ATR aircraft.
Commenting on the airlines new Hangar, Chief Executive Officer Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said "this significant improvement in the maintenance infrastructure of Jet Airways will form a solid basis for the further expansion of the airline".
The state-of-the-art hangar is equipped with workshops for taking care of independent modules like Avionics, Hydraulic, Composite panel repair, furnishing & seat repair, sheet metal, cleaning-painting, wheels & brakes shop and engine storage area.
The building services and facilities includes floor mounted / mobile docking system, compressed air installation, overhead crane system, electrical installation, fire fighting and ventilation, elevators and industrial effluent treatment plant.
The hangar is built over a plot area of 13,140 sq. mts along with a basement sprawling across 3,500 sq. mts. The 72 mts. span roof of the hangar is reinforced by structural steel trusses on RCC columns.
