Cyclonic Storm MAHASEN to move northwards for some time

The cyclonic storm MAHASEN over southeast Bay of Bengal moved northwards with a speed of about 15 kmph during past 6 hrs and lay centred at 0530 hrs IST of May 14, 2013 near latitude 13.50 0 N and longitude 85.50 0 E, about 950 km northwest of Car Nicobar, 700 km northeast of Trincomalee, 600 km east of Chennai and 1200 km south-southwest of Chittagong. It would move northwards for some more time and thereafter recurve towards Bangladesh-Myanmar coast.

Under the influence of this system, rainfall at many places with isolated heavy rainfall would occur over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 36 hrs.

Squally winds speed reaching 40-45 kmph gusting to 60 kmph would prevail along Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 36 hours. Sea condition will be rough to very rough along and off Andaman and Nicobar Islands during this period.

Fishermen of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are advised not to venture into the sea during next 36 hrs.
