Nifty edges above 6000 mark in the final hour - Eastern Financiers

Nifty that initiated the day in the negative terrain and continued to trade choppy throughout the day below the 6000 mark, edged above that level in the final hour of trade to shut the shop above that level at 6001.70 marking gains of about a quarter percentage point.

Broader indices however underperformed the benchmarks with the Midcap index ending almost flat and the Smallcap shaved off 0.29%. Sectoral indices ended mixed with the Realty Sector recording maximum gains of 1.22% and Consumer Durables flaked off the most to the tune of around 2%.

FMCG, Healthcare, Power, Bankex, PSU and Auto added around 0-1%.
