Hyundai Motor India Launches the new Getz Prime

New Delhi, April 2, 2007: Hyundai Motor India Ltd., India's fastest growing auto manufacturer and largest passenger car exporter, launched the new Getz Prime in New Delhi today. The Getz Prime is India’s first truly global car, incorporating features that meet global standards of performance and aesthetics.

Commenting on the launch of the new Getz Prime, HMIL Managing Director, H.S Lheem said, "As we launch the new Getz Prime in India, we take great pride in the fact that Hyundai has played a significant role in creating a more demanding Indian consumer. Indian car users are today asking for cars that meet global standards and, in Hyundai’s Getz Prime, they are getting it! The Getz, in fact, is a car that is most sold in Europe. It was named the Best Small Car in Australia in 2005 and won the Transport for London GreenFleet Award for the best economy car in 2006."

The new Getz will be sold as the new Getz Prime in the Indian market and starting from today it will be sold in two engine options. A powerful 1.3 litre and economical 1.1 litre petrol engine which will bolster the existing range of Hyundai cars in India. While the 1.3 litre is targeted at all those who are looking for performance along with stylish looks and space, the slightly smaller 1.1 litre petrol unit will offer the same amount of space but at a lower ownership cost and it will be more economical for day to day use.

The 1.3 litre 4-cylinder petrol powerplant develops an impressive 82.9 ps@5500 rpm as maximum power and 11.8 kgm of torque @ 3200 rpm. The 1.1 litre unit will use the existing Hyundai’s 4-cylinder, Epsilon engine with a power output of 66.6 ps@5500 rpm and an impressive torque of 10.4 kgm@3200 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission which is quiet, reliable and a proven performer.

The Getz Prime is a new car with attractive exteriors and plenty of cabin space. The new hood, fender and front panels give it a flowing appearance with pleasant new sparkling, Trapezoidal headlamps, sporty high focus round Fog lamps and a new radiator grille. The rear is attractive with a new tail light cluster and prominent bumper insert. The Door Side mouldings along with Front and Rear bumper insert protect the car from minor bumps and scratches.

Coming to the car’s interior, the new Getz Prime has an attractive and easy-to-read instrument cluster with a Tachometer, digital Odometer and Tripmeter. To add to the convenience the glove box now has internal illumination and there’s a tray added to the floor console to increase storage space and the clock has been moved to the center console for easy visibility and the driver seat has an arm rest for added comfort. The Getz is the only car in this segment with a 3-step reclining back rest for the rear seat and the rear seats double fold to considerably increase the cargo space.

To add to these features the new Getz Prime comes with double action hydraulic shock absorbers in front and gas shock absorbers in rear that will let you smoothly glide over rough roads. And to squeeze in to tight parking slots and maneuver through city traffic at ease, the Getz Prime uses power-assisted hydraulic steering wheel that provides the much needed convenience for in-city driving.
