Farm commodity prices generally steady or declining for week ending March 16, 2007

Farm commodity prices monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs have generally remained steady or declined at the 18 monitoring centres over the week ending March 16, 2007.

Prices of Wheat at retail level remained steady at 15 out of 18 centres. The price declined at Mumbai and Chennai.

The Government announced Rs. 100 per quintal as bonus over the MSP, on March 16, 2007.

Retail price of Sugar remained steady over the week acrvoss most of the centres.

Price of Gram Dal has generally remained steady or declined in all the centres except Bangalore.

Price of tur dal remained steady across most of the centres.
Out of the 30,000 tonnes of urad and moong contracted for import by NAFED, 11568 tonnes has arrived at the ports.
