NIFTY & Sensex scale new peak, close at all-time high

NIFTY & Sensex scale new peak, close at all-time high

BSE Sensex and NSE S&P CNX NIFTY galloped to new highs with liquidity flow continuing into the Indian markets. BSE Sensex closed at 10173.25, up by 62.28 points. Sensex hit an all-time high of 10182.77 and intraday low of 10096.28 before closing at a new high of 10173.25.

Out of 30 stocks in Sensex, 16 were gainers and 14 were losers. L&T was hte major gainer in Sensex with the stock zooming by 8.03% to close at Rs.2499.15, up by Rs.185.7. Tata Motors and Grasim Industries Ltd gained 4.97% and 4.77% to close at Rs.791.35 and Rs.1649.05 respectively.

BHEL closed at Rs.1891.7 (up by 2.94%), Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd closed up by 2.46% (Rs.443.4). Maruti Udyog and Tata Power closed higher by 1%.

NIFTY closed at 3041.15 after hitting an all-time and intraday high of 3042.75 and intraday low of 3018.5. NIFTY closed higher by 13.6 points at 3041.5. L&T was the major gainer in NIFTY too with the stock closing higher by 8.08% at Rs.2498.7. The other major gainers were Tata Tea (Rs.989.35, up by 7.1%), MTNL (Rs.149.75, up by 6.28%), Zee Tele (Rs.171.1, up by 5.16%).

Tata Motors and Grasim Industries closed at Rs.791.45 and Rs.1648.3, up by 4.95% and 4.64% respectively. HPCL and BHEL closed higher by more than 3%. ABB, Ranbaxy Laboratories, BPCL gained by 2.58%, 2.41% and 2.29% respectively.

Other gainers in NIFTY include Tata Chemicals (Rs.253.2, up by 1.75%), Maruti (Rs.779.9, up by 1.67%), VSNL (Rs.389.1, up by 1.55%), Tata Power (Rs.511.65, up by 1.2%), M&M (Rs.597.2, up by 1.17%), SAIL (Rs.57.8, up by 1.05%), Oriental Bank of Commerce (Rs.245.15, up by 1.03%).

The top losers in NIFTY are SCI (Rs.155.55, down by 5.38%), NALCO (Rs.291.05, down by 2.72%), Jet Airways (Rs.942.6, down by 2.54%) and HDFC Bank (Rs.746.45, down by 2.05%).

Other losers in NIFTY are Heor Honda, WIPRO, Hindalco, TCS losing by more than 1% during the day´s trading.

Top gainers in the overall market were Williamson Tea Assam Limited (up by 20%), Mcleod Russel India Limited (up by 20%), Winsome Yarns Ltd (up by 20%), Bombay Burmah Trading Corp. Ltd (up by 17.39%), Torrent Power AEC Limited (up by 15.77%), Nahar Exports Ltd (up by 14.92%), Helios And Matheson Information Technology Limited (up by 14.07%), Simplex Infrastructures Limited (up by 13.63%), Mcdowell & Company Limited (up by 13.4%) and Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers Ltd (up by 12.16%).

The top losers in broad market were Union Bank of India (down by 5.05%), IFCI (down by 4.24%), Aurobindo Pharma (down by 2.75%), TVS Motors (down by 2.03%).
