              The Railways are set to procure a record number of 16,500 wagons during the current financial year.
Announcing this while presenting the Railway Budget for 2011-12 here today the Minister of Railways, Mamata Banerjee said that for 2011-12 a higher target of 18,000 wagons has been set. She said that all the Production Units of the Railways have performed well during 2009-10. She announced that CLV has turned out the first locomotive with 'hotel load converter' to meet power requirement of coaches and pantry car. The capacity of Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) is being augmented to 300 locos, she said.
The Minister of Railways also informed the House that all the 11 Railway PSUs have performed well in 2009-10 with a turnover of more than Rs. 15,000 crore, earning a net profit of Rs. 1,782 crore.
