The key benchmark indices witnessed high volatility in late afternoon trade as the markets were wary of the 15,000 crore Coal India IPO which could suck out the liquidity in the system. Pharma and select auto stocks were up while metal stocks were down. The market breadth was mixed.
In the pharma space, Cipla and DR Reddy's were up 1.93% and 0.88% respectively. Among the Auto stocks, Hero Honda and Tata Motors were up 1.82% and 0.26% respectively.
In the Metal counters, Sesa Goa and Hindalco were down 3.92% and 2.77% respectively. In the IT pack, Infosys and TCS were down 3.09% and 1.66% respectively. In the power space RPower and NTPC were down 2.14% and 1.76% respectively in today's trade.
NSE Volume
The day's volumes stood at Rs. 15575.55 crores today compared to previous trading session's volumes of Rs. 16254.26 crores.
Outlook
The market will take cues from the global markets and is expected to open on a flat-to-positive note tomorrow. Trade short if Nifty breaches levels of 6050 targeting 6000 and 5950 levels.
