Sensex creates history, closes above 10000 mark for the first time

The indices of oldest stock exchange in Asia created history as it closed above the 10000 mark for the first time since its formation. BSE Sensex hit 10000 for the first time on Monday (February 6, 2006). But, it closed below 10000 due to profit booking at higher levels.

Bluechip stocks continued their rally in Indian markets with BSE Sensex hitting an intraday high of 10099.58 missing 10100 by a whisker. The Sensex closed the day at 10082.28, up by 101.86 points from its close on Monday.
