IndiGo expands its Middle East footprint with new Bengaluru-Riyadh direct flights, starting 16 November 2025 
              The Minister of Railways, Kumari Mamata Banerjee today announced in the Lok Sabha that 15000 kms Optical Fibre Cables (OFC) will be laid through Public Private Partnership (PPP) to cover the entire railway network.
Presenting the Railway Budget for the year 2010-11, the Minister said that this OFC infrastructure will be utilized to extend broadband services with the last mile connectivity on PPP basis to urban and rural areas. She said, the Indian Railways already has a network of 37,000 kms of Optical Fibre Cables and work on adding another 12,000 kms is in progress.
