A Partial Eclipse of the Moon occurred in the early hours of Friday, 1st January 2010 from 00.22 a.m. to 1.24 a.m. IST according to India Meteorological Department. In this eclipse, only a very small part of the Moon came under the Earth's umbral shadow which made it very difficult to see with the naked eye. The eclipse was visible throughout India.
The beginning of the umbral phase was visible from south-eastern part of Australia, some parts of South and North pacific Ocean and Solomon Island. The ending of the umbral phase was visible form some parts of North and South Atlantic Ocean.
