New Delhi, 22 December, 2009: CMAI (Communication Multimedia And IT ) Association of India, the only Integrated Association in India for Telecom, Multimedia and IT Sector having all stake holders as its members, today welcomed the decision by empowered Group of Ministers (eGOMs) to simultaneously provide 3G spectrum to all successful bidders of 3G auctions in August 2010. This is in contrast to the earlier proposal of auctioning of three slots and release of spectrum in phased manner.
Mr. Ravi Sharma, Executive Chairman, CMAI Association of India said, I welcome the recent announcement of eGOM on 3G auction, this move will first clear the air of ambiguity over the auction and distribution process, and make prospective operators bid with conviction, as it would provide a level playing field. Moreover, this will give the consumers choice of choosing between alternative 3G services, thereby empowering them to take better informed decision.
To further consumer interest, CMAI Association of India has recently set up a body to pursue the formation of Mobile Consumer Courts to address consumer grievances, and Honble Minister of Law and Justice, Shri Veerappa Moily, has agreed to consider the demand of creation of such consumer courts. CMAI Association of India is working closely with Ministry of Law and Justice and other bodies for the formulation and creation of consumer friendly policies and institutions, keeping in view the burgeoning mobile subscriber base.
CMAI (Communication Multimedia & IT) Association of India, is a professional registered association for promotion of Indian Telecom and IT Sector. CMAI is the only Integrated Association in India for Telecom and IT Sector having all stake holders as its members. It is an apex premier body with MOU partners and representatives all over the world.
