The depression over north Sri Lanka remained practically stationary and lay centred at 1730 hrs IST of today, the 14th December, 2009 near lat. 8.50 N and long. 81.00 E, close to Trincomalee, about 200 kms southeast of Pamban and 370 km east of Kanyakumari. It is likely to move in a westerly direction, emerge into Gulf of Mannar and cross south Tamil Nadu coast between Kanyakumari and Pamban around night of tomorrow, the 15th December, 2009.
Under its influence, rainfall at many places with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is likely over north coastal Tamilnadu and Puducherry during next 36 hours.
