Sensex and NIFTY close at all-time highs, Sensex touches 10000 mark

The Indian markets were on a bull charge on Monday. BSE Sensex hit the coveted 10000 mark for the first time in its history. Sensex touched a high of 10002.83 during the trading before closing at 9980.42, up by whopping 237.84 points. Out of 30 stocks in Sensex, 29 closed higher while only 1 stock closed lower.

Meanwhile, NSE S&P CNX NIFTY closed above 3000 mark for the first time in its history. NIFTY had touched 3000 mark last week before profit booking pushed the indes down. NIFTY closed at 3000.45 before hitting an intraday high of 3009.45 and low of 2928.1, up by 59.85 points. Out of 50 stocks in NIFTY only 8 were losers and 42 were gainers.

ICICI Bank was the top gainer in NIFTY with the stock surging by 6.53% to close at Rs.608.25. Ranbaxy Laboratories was the second major gainer in NIFTY with the stock closing up by 5.75% at Rs.414.05. Ranbaxy is slowly recovering its value after it suffered reverses due to the loss of Lipitor case.

Sun Pharma and Glaxo gained 4.44% and 4.4% respectively to close at Rs.803.9 and Rs.1390.75. Dabur India and Reliance Industries closed with a gain of more than 3%.

Other notable gainers include, TCS, ONGC, ITC, SAIL, HDFC, Hindalco, Cipla, Hero Honda, L&T, Dr Reddys Laboratories, Bajaj Auto, Hindustan Lever, Tata Motors, Gujarat Ambuja Cement, Infosys technologies all gaining by more than 2%.

Oriental Bank of Commerce was the major loser in NIFTY with the stock closing down by 1.35% at Rs.238.1 and ABB closing down by 1.3% at Rs.2391.45.

ICICI Bank was the major gainer in Sensex too with the stock closing up by 6.41% at Rs.607.15. Ranbaxy Laboratories was the second major gainer with the stock closing up by 6.23% at Rs.414.2.

Reliance gained 3.38% followed by TCS, ITC, Hindalco, Dr Reddys Laboratories, Cipla, Hero Honda, HDFC, ONGC, L&T, Tata Motors, Hindustan Lever, Bajaj Auto, Infosys Technologies, Gujarat Ambuja Cement all gaining more than 2%.
