Safexpress launches ultra-modern Logistics Park in Puducherry

New Delhi - November 16, 2009: Safexpress Pvt. Ltd., India's largest Supply Chain and Logistics Company, has announced the launch of its ultra-modern Logistics Park in Puducherry today. This is company's third successful launch in the Southern region. The company has recently launched two state-of-the-art Logistics Parks at Chennai and Salem.

Speaking during the Inauguration Ceremony, Mr. Vineet Kanaujia, GM - Marketing, Safexpress said, "We are developing world-class Warehousing at certain strategic locations across India. We are in the process of investing Rs. 600 crore in beefing up our Warehousing infrastructure across the country. Out of this Rs. 600 crore, one-third of the investment will be done in the Southern region, given the scope of Supply Chain & Logistics industry in this belt."

He announced, "We plan to develop 5 million square feet of additional Warehousing space across the country in the next couple of years, adding to our already existing Warehousing space of 5 million square feet. In all, we plan to launch 32 Logistics Parks in the next two years. Once ready, these Logistics Parks will revolutionize the way Supply Chain functions in our country today."

He added, "Safexpress is driving a Warehousing Revolution in the country at the moment. We have already established seven of our state-of-the-art Logistics Parks in Gurgaon, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, NCR, Chennai and Salem. Our ultra-modern Logistics Park at Puducherry will help us in providing our clients with cutting edge state-of-the-art trans-shipment and 3PL services. We have invested over Rs. 25 crore in developing this ultra-modern facility at Puducherry."

Speaking about the choice of Puducherry as a location for developing this ultra-modern Logisitics Park, Mr. Kanaujia said, "Puducherry has nearly 5,500 small scale industries, apart from 80 medium scale and 23 large scale industries. Several corporate entities have set up their manufacturing units in Puducherry due to the infrastructural and taxation advantages it offers. Industries like textiles, metals, light engineering, chemicals, food processing and information technology are flourishing in this region. In the near future, we expect an investment boost in sectors like eco-tourism, footwear and marine products. All these factors enhance the importance of Puducherry from the point of view of Supply Chain & Logistics."

He added, "A new Port is also being developed in this region along with a Special Economic Zone to provide a fillip to the industrial development of this belt. The entire Union Territory of Puducherry is well connected by roads with around 423 kilometers of surface road. Puducherry is a strategic location and its proximity to Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala makes it an important Supply Chain hub. Combined with a highly literate and well-equipped workforce, government subsidies and low operational costs, Puducherry is proving to be a preferred manufacturing and distribution point for all kinds of enterprises. In the light of all these facts, we have sensed the need for world-class Warehousing and Trans-shipment facilities in this belt. Therefore, we have chosen Puducherry for the development of our Logistics Park, with an objective of contributing to the economic growth of this region."

Highlighting the importance of establishing the Safexpress Logistics Parks in the Southern region, Mr. Kanaujia said, "We have already established our Logistics Parks in the northern, western and the eastern regions of India. At the moment, we are focusing in strengthening our Logistics Parks network in the Southern Region. We have recently launched state-of-the-art Logistics Parks at key industrial hubs in Tamil Nadu like Chennai and Salem. These Logistics Parks would be strategically very important for fulfilling the Supply Chain & Logistics needs of our clients in the Southern region. We have invested over Rs. 85 crore in setting up the three Logistics Parks at Chennai, Salem and Puducherry respectively."

Highlighting the opportunities for Warehousing business in India, Mr. Kanaujia said, "There is a huge growth opportunity for Warehousing business in the country. Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are one of the major driving forces for Warehousing business in India. A large number of upcoming SEZs have necessitated the development of Logistics Parks for the domestic market as well as for global trade."

Speaking about the unique features of Safexpress Logistics Park at Puducherry, Mr. Kanaujia said, "Our ultra-modern Logistics Park at Puducherry spans over a massive area of 1,04,000 square feet. Also, for safer and smoother movement of goods within this Logistics Park, we have installed high-tech equipment to ensure that the goods are handled very carefully. Customized plastic pallets of premium quality ensure that the goods are handled absolutely safely."

He further added, "The dedicated bays and docks in our Logistics Park at Puducherry provide an uninterrupted and unidirectional flow of inbound and outbound goods. Moreover, to make our Logistics Park eco-friendly, we have taken special environment-friendly initiatives by investing in rain water harvesting, by developing greens and by using the natural sunlight during the day-time to conserve energy."

Mr. Kanaujia concluded by saying that, "Our Logistics Park at Puducherry will be operational 24x7, 365 days in a year to provide 'time-definite' deliveries. Due to our seamless and non-stop operations, we will be providing the fastest transit time of 1.8 days for deliveries all across the country from Puducherry. This will vastly augment the standards of Supply Chain & Logistics in the region, and consequently contribute to its economic growth."
