Afcons Infrastructure wins World Quality Commitment Award 2009

Fifth company in India to receive since its inception

Mumbai, September 21, 2009: Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. (Afcons), the infrastructure arm of Shapoorji Pallonji Group, has won the prestigious International World Quality Commitment (WQC) 2009 award organized by Business Initiative Directions, Paris. This recognition is based on the criteria of the QC100 quality model, implemented in over 100 countries.

Mr. K. Subrahmanian, Managing Director, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd., received the renowned WQC trophy for Quality, Technology and Innovation in the presence of business leaders from over 100 countries, who attended the 23rd annual World Quality Commitment Convention held on September 20 and 21, 2009, at a glittering ceremony in the Concorde La Fayette Hotel. The Convention is part of the annual programme of B.I.D. (Business Initiative Directions) Awards, designed to recognize outstanding companies, organizations and businessmen across the world. The award evaluates a company under 15 different parameters and takes into account best of the selection process followed on the lines of Nobel Prize, Oscar etc.

The Awards Ceremony was attended by leaders from different business fields, professionals from the worlds of economics, the arts and corporate image, quality experts, as well as academic personalities and representatives from the diplomatic corps. In previous years, many business leaders from 178 countries all over the world have stepped up to the stage at BID conventions in France, Germany, the United States, Switzerland, England and Russia to receive this highest business award. While many good companies from the globe have received this award, from India Afcons is the fifth proud recipient of this award in the two decades of its existence.
