IOL Broadband Ltd has announced that the Company has signed a content delivery network affiliation contract with MTNL; this will allow MTNL customers access to IPTV content.
The agreement will allow the Company to access over 2,00,000 ADSL broadband subscribers of MTNL. MTNL has plans to deploy over 1,000,000 ADSL modems in the next 24 months. With the availability of high quality content the pace of deployment will surely be accelerated.
Using a state-of-the-art Network Center and its own Metro Fiber Ethernet Network, the Company has already interconnected its network with MTNL´s ADSL network.
The service will include IPTV - Time Shifted Viewing and Video on Demand (VOD). Several hundred Hindi and Hollywood movies are expected to be made available on demand via the network of MTNL.
With the advent of IOL Broadband´s IPTV / VOD service, India will join a select group of advanced countries where IPTV / VOD services are available.
IPTV / VOD technologies are gaining traction all over the world and penetration levels are increasingly exponentially. It is becoming apparent that IPTV will replace traditional methods of viewing media in the near future.
The Company also has advanced plans to deploy broadband interactive services in SMEs and large corporate offices.
