IndiGo expands its Middle East footprint with new Bengaluru-Riyadh direct flights, starting 16 November 2025 
              The Union Minister of Railways, Kumari Mamata Banerjee has said that the recruitment policy and the functioning of Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) would be reviewed shortly.
Presenting the Railway Budget 2009-10 in the Lok Sabha today, she announced the launching of special recruitment drive to wipe out backlog in filling up the vacancies of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
She also announced the forming of a new scheme to give better representation of minorities, women and economically backward classes in the recruitments for the Indian Railways. She said that a Special Recruitment Drive would also be launched for filling up of vacancies against Physically Handicapped Quota. Sports-persons would also get their share in recruitment, she added.
