Markets continued to move higher today, albeit at a slower pace. Sensex closed at 15103.55 up 94.87 points (0.63%) for the day, and Nifty closed at 4586.9 up 14.25 points (0.31%).
Among the large caps, Hero Honda moved up 6.18%. Earlier this week, Hero Honda came out with better sales for the month of may. Other major gainers include Grasim (5.67%), Tata Motors (5.46%), BHEL (4.98%). Among the major large cap losers were ITC (down 5.5%), Suzlon (-4.31%), and Reliance Infrastructure (down 3.69%).
The bank nifty index closed flattish today down just 0.09%. However State Bank of India was down 3.47% and closed at Rs 1817.65.
Among the mid caps, BEML went up 13.47%, TVS Motors went up 13.06%. Ultratech Cements was down 5.09%, and Bombay Dyeing was down 4.69%.
Major volume players for the day were Unitech, JP Hydro, and Suzlon.
Overall, there was more pressure on a broader market, with profit booking taking place more on the mid caps and small caps, after their recent run up.
