Entertainment Network listeners can now interact with Visual Radio

Entertainment Network India Ltd has announced that the Company (which operates its private FM radio stations under the brand name "Radio Mirchi") listeners can now "See what they hear" with Visual Radio, a new music service that allows listeners to interact with their favourite radio station on their mobile phone.

In India, this service is being offered by HP first to the Company and Hutch (mobile services operator) to begin with. It is being launched in New Delhi on July 25, 2006. It will be offered in Mumbai in the weeks to come.

Developed by Nokia and offered by HP, Visual Radio adds a new dimension to FM radio. Visual Radio allows listeners to tune in to local FM radio (via the analog receiver on all the Nokia handsets that offer the Visual Radio feature) and simultaneously access data from the mobile operator (for their WAP enabled subscribers). It then synchronizes images and texts with the, radio broadcasts to bring entertainment, information and interactivity directly to mobile devices.

With Visual Radio, listeners will be able to enjoy appealing visuals, information and entertainment of what’s playing over the air, purchase ring tones and other relevant mobile content, participate in promotions, polls, contests, and interact with Radio Jockeys and special guests running on the radio station thereby redefining the radio experience.

HP is working in delivering Visual Radio by providing installation, support, at training and select digital download content that help the Visual Radio delivery process.

Being the first radio broadcaster in India to offer this service, Radio Mirchi has demonstrated its ability to spot emerging trends earlier than others. Further it will differentiate Radio Mirchi from competition and will reinforce its leadership status with listeners and advisers.
