Consultative committee attached to petroleum ministry meets

Members made several suggestions for improving the performance of hydrocarbon sector in the country. They called for greater efforts to harness utilization of alternative fuels, checking adulteration and other mal-practices in the distribution of petroleum products, accelerating the automation of retail outlets, addressing the reports of shortages in supply of domestic LPG, etc.

Some members suggested that ONGC should undertake more intensive exploration and production activities in Assam in view of the potential in the area and India’s heavy import dependence.

The members who attended the meeting are: S/Shri K. Manvendra Singh, G.V. Harsha Kumar, Kishan Singh Sangwan, Jaswant Singh Bishnoi, Prof. Rasa Singh Rawat, Dr. Arun Kumar Sarma, Baleshwar Yadav, A.P. Abdullakutty, Lakshman Chandra Seth, Jaisingrao Gaikwad Patil, Ram Kripal Yadav, S. Ajaya Kumar, Kiren Rijiju and Smt. Preneet Kaur, Ms. M.S.K. Bhavani Rajenthiran, from Lok Sabha and Prof. Alka Balram Kshatriya, Shri Nandi Yellaiah, Shri Su. Thirunavukkarasar, Shri Birendra Prasad Baishya, Shri Vijay J Darda and Smt. Vasanthi Stanley from Rajya Sabha.

Shri Dinsha Patel, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri R.S. Pandey, Secretary (Petroleum & Natural Gas), Shri S. Sundareshan, Addl. Secy.(MoP&NG), Chief Executive Officers of Oil Public Sector Undertakings and senior officers of the Ministry & Oil PSUs also attended the meeting.
