Foundation stone to be laid on February 21, 2009 for 110 crore steel plant in kangra district

The foundation stone for Rs 110 crore cost steel processing unit to be set up by steel authority of india in kandrori area of kangra district of the himachal pradesh will be laid on 21 februrary 2009 said chief minister professor prem kumar dhumal after meeting with union steel minister sh ram villas paswan at 12 janpath new delhi.

The chief minister professor Prem kumar Dhumal told that state govt will transfer 7.20 hectare land in the area for the project on 99 years lease immediately to first PSU steel plant in the state. He told that state govt will provide tax and other incentives to this unit which are applicable to private sector units in the state.

The chief minister told that the unit site will be connected by all weather national / state highways for 60 T trailor capcity and added that 11 kv line will be set up for providing 4500 kw power requirement for the steel unit. He added that the state govt will provide daily 800 kilo litre water daily through main water lines of the IPH departments and deep bore wells will be setup to ensure round the clock water supply to the steel unit.

200 persons will be employed in different categeories in the proopsed unit and the total project will be implemented unit wise. The TMT bar mill will be installed in the first unit and TMT bar mill with 20 tph furnance capacity and production capacity of 1,00,000 tpa will start production in 18 months period.

An international standard modern laboratory with adequate facilities for testing the rolled balls will be setup at the site for quality control and added that ware houses will be set up for storage the production in the site. The water storage, DG sets, electric sub station, weigh bridge, compressed air stations, mechanical and electrical workshops, fuel oil storage facilities will be set up at the plant site.

The plant will meet the highest standards set up by state pollution control board and central pollution control board in air, water, noise pollution level and added that unit will set up international level modern equipments to meet these standards. The fire protections and fire fighting facilites will be set up at the plant site for safeguarding the plant in case of any exigencies.
