Mumbai, January 19, 2009: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India today conducted a press briefing to announce the details of its second annual industry awards platform – ICAI Awards 2008. The awards are in three categories, viz. Business Achiever, Chief Financial Officers and Professional Achievers.

Addressing the conference were some of the eminent jury members from India Inc. such as Mr. Kamath K V., MD & CEO, ICICI Bank, Mr. Pai Mohandas T.V., Member of the Board & Director-HR, Infosys Technologies Ltd., Mr. Dhoot Venugopal Nandlal, CMD, Videocon Industries Ltd, Mr. Roongta S.K., Chairman, Steel Authority of India along with CA. Sanjeev Maheshwari, Chairman, Committee for Members in Industry of ICAI.

Mr Sanjeev Maheshwari, Chairman, ICAI, stated, "In the current environment, it is extremely important that we recognize the companies and CA professionals who are raising the benchmarks of management accounting. We are honoured to have a distinguished panel of judges to select winners within each category. The aim of the awards is to felicitate these professionals who have attained enormous success in their industry and encourage others in the path of excellence and credibility. With the great support that we have received from the CA industry, we hope to take these awards to the next level in the years to follow".

The "ICAI Awards 2008" will be held on January 25th, 2009 at Goregaon Sports Club in Mumbai. There will be 20 awards given under 3 categories.

1. CA Business Achiever

This category is for CEO/Directors / or individuals holding equivalent positions in the following sub categories.

- Financial Services
- Corporate
- SME
- Others

2. CFO

This category is for professionals in senior management capacities. This includes positions such as CFO's, Business Vertical Heads, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Treasury Officer and such other equivalent positions.

3. CA Professional Achiever.

This category is for managers who have achieved excellence in their careers and are not covered in the categories stated above and is intended to honor the achievements of CAs in the early or middle path of their careers.

Each of the outstanding CFO and CA Professional Achiever award will be given separately in various sub categories like manufacturing, financial sector, service sector, information technology, media, communication and entertainment, infrastructure and construction, public sector, woman (this is an additional category for woman open for all the sectors given above. A woman CFO/ Professional Achiever can also apply/be considered for various sub categories).
