Tamil Nadu, Puducherry ports still hoisting LC-III Flag

The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to venture into open sea. The Sea is expected to be rough to very rough after cyclone "NISHA" crossed coast near Karaikal.

The authorities have continued to hoist Local Cautionary signal number three (LC-III) at Chennai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam , Puducherry and Ennore ports.

The wind direction and speed is expected to be Easterly 20-25 Knots gusting to 30-35 knots occasionally.

The visibility is moderate, becoming poor in showers and very poor in heavy to very heavy falls.

The Cyclonic strom "NISHA" crossed the coast near Karaikal between 0530 hours to 0630 hours IST today - 27th November 2008. The system is likely to move in a north westerly direction and weaken gradually.

Under its influence squally wind with speed reaching upto 50-60 gusting to 70 KMPH likely along Tamilnadu and Puducherry Coast.
