IndiGo expands its Middle East footprint with new Bengaluru-Riyadh direct flights, starting 16 November 2025 
              The Railways have generated Rs. 29564.92 crore of revenue earnings from freight traffic during April-October 2008 as compared to Rs. 25424.28 crore during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 16.29 per cent.
Railways carried 467.97 million tonnes of freight traffic during April-October 2008 as compared to 436.42 million tonnes carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 7.23 per cent. The Net Tonne Kilo Metres (NTKM) went up from 279374 million during April-October 2007 to 302447 million during April-October 2008, showing an increase of 8.26 per cent.
Of the total earnings during the month of October 2008, Rs. 1667.28 crore came from transportation of 31.16 million tonnes of coal, followed by Rs. 478.57 crore from 8.46 million tonnes of iron ore for exports, steel plants and for other domestic user, Rs. 365.90 crore from 6.86 million tonnes of cement, Rs. 285.33 crore from 4.19 million tonnes of fertilizers, Rs. 264.28 crore from 3.24 million tonnes of petroleum oil and lubricant (POL), Rs. 230.17 crore from 2.11 million tonnes of Pig iron and finished steel from steel plants and other points, Rs. 204.02 crore from 2.13 million tonnes of foodgrains Rs. 71.35 crore from 0.99 million tonnes of raw material for steel plants except iron ore, Rs. 206.39 crore from 2.36 million tonnes by container service and Rs. 289.15 crore from 4.58 million tonnes of other goods.
