              The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period 1st November – 10th November 2008 were Rs. 2027.77 crore compared to Rs. 1864.32 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 8.77 per cent.
The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1270.79 crore during 1st November – 10th November 2007 to Rs. 1308.24 crore during 1st November – 10th November 2008, showing an increase of 2.95 per cent.
The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 1st to 10th November 2008 were Rs. 650.55 crore compared to Rs. 523.78 crore during the same period last year, reflecting a increase of 24.20 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 53.26 crore during this period compared to Rs. 50.94 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 4.55 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period 1st to 10th November 2008 were 206.36 million compared to 166.87 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 23.67 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during 1–10 November 2008 were 110.47 million and 95.89 million compared to 92.16 million and 74.71 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 19.87 per cent and an increase of 28.35 per cent respectively.
