Enviro Infra Engineers Bags ₹130.14 Crore Varanasi Sewage Treatment Project Under Namami Gange Programme

Water and wastewater infrastructure specialist Enviro Infra Engineers Limited (EIEL) has officially bagged a new domestic contract worth ₹130.14 crores (excluding GST) for sewage infrastructure development in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

The company received the formal Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the awarding authorities on July 3, 2026.

Key Project Details and Strategic Structure

The strategic infrastructure venture is backed by the central government's flagship environmental cleaning drive and carries the following key parameters:

Awarding Authority: The project has been awarded by the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Rural), a domestic state entity.

Core Project Scope: The contract involves the development of a 60 MLD (Million Liters per Day) Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) along with associated network infrastructure at Lohta, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

Execution Framework: The project will be executed via a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework utilizing the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). The mandate also packages long-term Operation and Maintenance (O&M) responsibilities.

Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV): To manage construction and structural workflows, the project will be executed through a newly incorporated subsidiary called Varanasi Lohta STP Private Limited. EIEL had previously notified the stock exchanges regarding the setup of this dedicated SPV on June 17, 2026.

Timeline and Operational Framework

The project specifies a rigid lifecycle timeline divided into clear installation, testing, and handling phases:

Construction Phase: A timeframe of 21 months has been allotted to finish core civil and mechanical engineering infrastructure setup.

Trial Operations: Following construction, the SPV will run strict system evaluations and trial operations spanning 3 months.

Long-Term O&M: Upon successful trial sign-off, the company will take charge of the facilities under a comprehensive Operation and Maintenance contract lasting 15 years.

Shares of Enviro Infra Engineers Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 235.30 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 228.15. The total number of shares traded during the day was 599570 in over 6997 trades.
