Maruti Suzuki Hits All-Time High: Total Sales Surge 34.8% to 2.42 Lakh Units in May 2026

Automotive market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved its highest-ever monthly sales volume, delivering a total of 2,42,688 units in May 2026. This marks a spectacular 34.8% growth compared to the 1,80,077 units sold in May 2025.

The record-breaking month was anchored by an all-time high domestic sales performance alongside massive gains in outbound export shipments.

Domestic Passenger Vehicle Sales Gain Broad Momentum

Maruti Suzuki's total domestic passenger vehicle sales expanded by 40% in May 2026, reaching 1,90,337 units against 1,35,962 units in the same month last year. This sweeping recovery covered every key sub-segment:

Mini Sub-segment (Alto, S-Presso): Showed an explosive turnaround, more than doubling its volume to 16,275 units from 6,776 units in May 2025.

Compact + Mid-Size Cars (Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR): Remained the company's highest-volume driver, growing 31.6% to 81,555 units compared to 61,960 units previously.

Utility Vehicles (Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris, XL6): Continued its aggressive upward trajectory, jumping 44.4% to 79,267 units from 54,899 units in the corresponding month last year.

Vans (Eeco): Maintained a steady growth profile, ticking up 7.4% to reach 13,240 units versus 12,327 units last year.

Commercials, OEM Supply, and Exports

Beyond passenger cars, the Super Carry light commercial vehicle (LCV) posted strong numbers, growing 17.2% to sell 3,198 units. This brought total domestic volumes (PV + LCV) to an all-time high of 1,93,535 units.

While strategic supply dispatches to other OEMs dipped slightly to 7,239 units from 10,168 units last year, the export market compensated massively. Total export dispatches grew by 34.3%, flying to 41,914 units in May 2026 from 31,219 units in the corresponding period of 2025.

Year-to-Date (YTD) Performance Highlights

Reflecting two back-to-back months of robust retail push, Maruti Suzuki's cumulative sales for the April-May 2026-27 financial period scaled up to 4,82,334 units. This is a 34% surge compared to the 3,59,868 units registered during the opening two months of the previous fiscal.

Cumulatively, total passenger cars crossed nearly two lakh units at 1,94,555 units, while utility vehicle volumes climbed significantly to 1,57,159 units for the fiscal year so far. Overall YTD domestic operations reached 4,00,366 units, while cumulative international exports are maintaining a fast lane at 81,968 units against 59,130 units last year.

Shares of Maruti Suzuki India Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 13119.85 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 13365.85. The total number of shares traded during the day was 23041 in over 5182 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 13509.85 and intraday low of 13050.00. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 307316255.00.
