JSW Infrastructure Limited (NSE: JSWINFRA / BSE: 543994), a leading private sector port operator, has announced the successful commissioning of its Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal at Arakkonam, Chennai. In a regulatory filing today, the company confirmed that the Southern Railway, Chennai Division, has granted approval to commence commercial operations effective immediately.

Project Background and Scope

The terminal has been developed on land belonging to the Indian Railways under the Government of India's "Gati Shakti" policy, which aims to improve logistics efficiency and multi-modal connectivity across the country. JSW Infrastructure had initially secured the contract for the construction and operation of this facility in June 2024.

The Arakkonam terminal is strategically located to serve the industrial hinterland of Tamil Nadu, acting as a vital link for moving cargo between rail and road networks.
