Urban Company released its Ride to Rise report, showcasing how its mobility initiative, Udaan, has significantly improved earning opportunities, productivity and long-term financial security for women service professionals by enabling access to independent mobility across key urban markets including Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Udaan has supported approximately 1,800 women service professionals, with over 1,100 women trained to ride and 700+ women purchasing two-wheelers.
Mobility is a structural constraint to women's income growth. Without access to personal transport, women face higher travel costs, reduced flexibility, time constraints and limited access to peak earning hours. All three factors directly compress productivity and monthly earnings. The Ride to Rise report highlights how building an end-to-end mobility ecosystem - spanning training, licensing, financing and ownership - can effectively address these challenges.
The report finds that UC women service professionals who own a two-wheeler earn, on average, 14% higher net monthly earnings compared to those dependent on public or hired transport. Faster travel between service bookings, reduced waiting time, fewer cab/auto cancellations and improved access to peak-hour demand directly contribute to greater economic independence.
Commenting on the release of the report, Abhiraj Singh Bhal, Chief Executive Officer, Urban Company Limited, said: "Mobility is not just a logistical input, it is a powerful economic enabler. When women gain control over how they move, they gain greater control over their work and time. So, we didn't want to just solve a single constraint but design a complete pathway to independence. Udaan has now supported ~1,800 women service professionals - many of whom are first-time riders and first-time borrowers. What stands out is not just the scale, but the shift in confidence and independence that mobility enables."
The report also presents a five-year cost analysis showing that two-wheeler ownership converts recurring travel expenses into long-term financial gains. Over a five-year period, women partners who own a two-wheeler can save approximately ₹2.7 lakh, while also creating a tangible asset - making mobility ownership a structurally more cost-efficient model.
