Fire at Unimers India Navi Mumbai Plant

Unimers India Ltd has announced that a major fire broke out in the Finishing Section and Warehouse area of the Company's plant at Navi Mumbai in the early hours of October 24, 2006. The same was controlled in around five hours.

The Warehouse and Finishing section has suffered extensive damage. There is a substantial loss of stocks also. The detailed damage assessment is in progress. The approximate loss may be exceeding Rs 15 crores. The assets are insured. There are no casualties but six persons suffered injuries.

The Company is taking effective steps to restore the damaged section and bring back the plant into operation. It is estimated to take 8-10 weeks to resume the operations.
