In celebration of its 250th anniversary, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. (MDL) proudly hosted the second edition of the Mazdock Mumbai 10K Challenge today, Sunday, December 15, 2024. The event energized the city and brought together participants from all walks of life, further cementing MDL's decp rooted legacy in the maritime and shipbuilding sectors. This milestone not only highlights MDL's 250 years of excellence in shipbuilding but also showcases the company's ongoing commitment to innovation, quality, and national development.
The event was flagged off today at Azad Maidan by sports icons Ms. Monalisa Baruah Mehta, Ms. Diana Edulji, Ms. Lalita Babar, and Mr. Aman Chaudhary in presence of Mr. Sanjeev Singhal (CMD), Mr. Biju George (Director, Shipbuilding), Cdr. Vasudev Puranik (IN Retd.), Mr. Hari Narayan Jangid (CVO).
Since its inception in 1774, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. (MDL) has been a proud symbol of national strength, constructing warships, submarines, and commercial vessels that safeguard our shores and drive our economy.
On the occasion Mr. Sanjeev Singhal, Chairman and Managing Director, MDL stated that this event holds special significance as MDL celebrates its remarkable 250 year journey and its distinction as the first shipyard to earn the prestigious Navratna status. CMD further said that the purpose of the marathon is to promote the culture of health & fitness in the society and also create awareness about Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd and its stellar contributions in Nation building.
The second edition of the Mazdock Marathon saw an impressive turnout, with over 6,000 participants across two race categories - the 10K Challenge and the 3K Fun Run. To mark this exceptional event, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. (MDL) offered substantial prize money for the top finishers in the 10K category, across six age groups for both male and female participants. A total of Rs. 5.5 lakhs was awarded in prize money, highlighting MDL's commitment to promoting fitness and achievement. In addition, a special category was introduced to motivate MDL employees, with separate awards for both male and female employees, further encouraging participation and team spirit within the organization.
