Arrow Greentech Ltd granted patent under Indian Patent Act

Arrow Greentech Limited (AGTL) has received a grant for patent titled "A System and Method of Preparing A Cold Water Soluble Film for Delivering Heat Sensitive Active Ingredients" Patent No. 512862 dated on 20th of February 2024, for the territory of the India under the provisions of the Indian Patent Act.

IP Cell has informed, 'The present invention, relates to, a water soluble film, more particularly a it relates to a cold water soluble film and the process of preparing such cold water soluble film for the purpose of and having the capacity of delivery of heat sensitive active ingredients. The present patented invention also relates to a method and system for preparing batches of the above mentioned cold water soluble film. The invention uses a novel way of producing heat sensitive actives, like, but not limited to Pharma and health ingredients, for eventual delivery to desired location, like tongue or a wound, as an example.

APPLICATIONS OF THE PATENT:

Water-soluble films have a diverse range of applications, including use in pharmaceutical films, packaging, edible films, formulation, and food product strips. The cold-water-soluble film formed can be applied in various ways, such as pharmaceutical films like mouth dissolving strips, mouth-melting strips, oral disintegrating films (ODS), and packaging. Its ability to preserve heat-sensitive actives without degrading its active potency, makes it particularly suitable for the pharmaceutical, health and hygiene, including cosmetic industry.

The present invention aims to provide a cold-water-soluble film for diverse applications. This includes embedding substances like detergents, enzymes (which are otherwise sensitive to harsh chemical environments and/or are temperature sensitive; softeners, perfumes, agrochemicals (pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, weedicides, insecticides), agro nutrients (urea, fertilizers), dyes, pigments, hazardous chemicals, fluff, pulp, and absorbents used in diapers. The film allows for precise and desired dosages when delivering these substances, making it versatile for unit dose packaging of detergents, agrochemicals, water treatment chemicals, food ingredients, formulations, pharmaceutical drugs, and dyes.
