Fire at Numaligarh Refinery Limited

A fire broke out at the Numaligarh Refinery Limited's Hydrocracker Unit (HCU) in vessel Number VV-04 at approximately 19:20 hours on 29.05.2023. The vessel is a cold high-pressure separator. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes of break out. However, as per firefighting protocol, cooling through water spraying is still being carried out.

Assessment of the damage has not been done yet. There is no personal injury or fatality in the incident. Nearby Hydrogen unit has been shut down as a precautionary measure.

An external investigation committee is being constituted to investigate the root cause of the incident and to ascertain the quantum impact of the incident.

Shares of Oil India Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 256.75 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 256.65. The total number of shares traded during the day was 41736 in over 987 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 260.70 and intraday low of 255.55. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 10782544.00.
