Indian equity indices opened today on a positive note on the back of a weak US dollar and FPI turning buyers. But indices turned volatile in afternoon trade and ended 3-day winning run in the red on the last day of the financial year. Nifty was down 30 points and closed at 17,468 mark while Sensex closed 115 points lower to 58,568.51. Among the sectors, FMCG and realty ended in the green while selling was seen in pharma, IT and PSU Banks. However, midcap and smallcap indices ended in positive.
In Nifty 50 top gainers were Eicher Motors, Adani Ports, Divis Labs, JSW Steel and HDFC. The losers were Hero Motocorp, ONGC, Coal India Indian Oil Corporation and ITC.
