Hikal clarifies on toxic fumes exposure incident in Surat

Sodium Hydro Sulphide (dilute solution 16%) which is a non-hazardous chemical is generated at the Taloja plant of the Company that was entrusted to Sangam Enviro Private Limited for processing and onward sale to the textile/cement sector.

As per several media reports, around 6 people died and 23 people were hospitalized in Surat (Police Jurisdiction - Sachin GIDC) due to exposure to toxic fumes. The company clarifies that this was from a different Tanker bearing No. GJ-06-ZZ-6221. This was not the same tanker that left the company's premises in Taloja. The Surat Police is investigating the matter and the Company is rendering all assistance in the matter.

The Company would like to assure all stakeholders that Hikal abides by all the rules and regulations and follows the highest level of HSE standards while conducting business.

All the manufacturing sites of company are currently operating normally and there has not been any stoppage/disruption in operations at any of the manufacturing sites.

Shares of Hikal Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 552.60 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 574.95. The total number of shares traded during the day was 40253 in over 3876 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 573.00 and intraday low of 546.40. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 22535339.00.
