JSW Steel releases its Q2 Production figures

JSW Steel Ltd has announced that the Company as part of 1.3 mtpa expansion project has commissioned Coke Oven, Sinter Plant, Blast Furnace and BOF Shops and the Slab Caster is expected to be commissioned in October 2006 to take up the Slab capacity from current 2.5 mtpa to 3.8 mtpa.
During the Second quarter of financial year 2006-07 the Pellet production was at 1.014 million tons, an increase of 7% as compared to the quarter 2 for 2005-06 (0.942 million tons) and the Crude steel at 0.649 million tons was 17% higher than 0.553 million tons in quarter 2 for 2005-06. The production of HR Coils at 0.601 million tons was 9% higher as compared to corresponding quarter in previous year.
There was a marginal drop of 2% in the production of Galvanised products at 0.199 million tons as compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year at 0.203 million tons.
Mr Seshagiri Rao, Director Finance, of the Company stated that "with the commissioning of part of the 1.3 mtpa expansion project and modernization of Hot Strip Mill, the company posted increase in volumes".
