This Christmas, Star World, India's leading English General Entertainment channel is all set to bring a new culinary experience to Indian television. Starting December 25, Star World and Star World HD will be airing the first ever season of MasterChef Asia. The show is not restricted to home cooks from one particular country and for the first time contestants from eight different countries will be competing for the title. The show will be judged by Hong Kong-born, culinary genius Susur Lee known as the "Father of fusion"; 3-Michelin star chef Bruno Ménard; and Singapore-born, Audra Morrice, a MasterChef Australia finalist.
MasterChef Asia will take the audiences on a gastronomic journey across Asia as Asia's finest amateur cooks whip up some of the finest food seen on television. Be it Malaysian, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Burmese, Indian, Singaporean, Korean or even Indonesian, the show will have all that and much more in what is going to be the year's biggest celebration of Asian cuisine. From the MasterChef kitchen to off-site and overseas challenges, the 15 episodes will culminate in one home-cook winning the title of the first ever MasterChef Asia winner. The show also has a very strong India connect since two of the contestants are of Indian origin - Jasbir Kaur, a homemaker who represents Malaysia and Priya Barve, a marketing manager who represents India on the show."
Speaking on this new offering, an official Star India spokesperson said, "Star World has been the home to the very popular MasterChef franchise. After the success of multiple seasons of MasterChef Australia, MasterChef U.S. Junior and MasterChef U.S., we are extremely proud of bringing this new property. Star World has always been a pioneer in exposing India to global lifestyles and MasterChef Asia helps us take that a step further."
