Heavy Inflows into lakes should give reprieve to Chennai Citizens

The intermittent rains in Tamil Nadu over the last few days have given a reason for cheer to the citizens of Chennai. The rains in the catchment areas of lakes that supply drinking water to Chennai have also received good amount of rainfall brining in good inflows to the lakes which were at near zero capacity.

The inflows into Poondi was at 543 cusecs against an outflow of 11 cusecs. The Cholavaram lake is receiving inflows of 232 cusecs against zero outflow.

Chembarambakkam lake was the one to receive huge inflows of 2839 cusecs as against an outflow of 50 cusecs due to continuous rains in neighboring Kanchipuram district. Redhills lake also received inflows of 432 cusecs against the outflow of 50 cusecs.
