PM Modi hails pan-India Padayatra for peace

On a 7,500 km pan-India Padayatra from Kanya Kumari to Kasmir the Walk of Hope led by Shri M (Mumtaz Ali Khan) received a big boost as Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi tweeted hailing the march.

Mr Modi spoke to Sri M and conveyed his best wishes for the Walk of Hope spreading the message of social harmony and non-violence.

The walkathon, organised by Manav Ekta Mission, has covered around 3,200 km so far and is slated to end at Jammu in April 2016 after travelling through Gujarat, MP, UP, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and J&K. In Gujarat, they are scheduled to visit Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Godhra.

Social activist Anna Hazare joined the march for a while at Ralegaon Siddhi and promised to meet Sri M and Walk of Hope at Delhi. RSS supremo, Mohan Bhagwat, joined the Walk of Hope at Alandi.

Recently, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised the walkathon as a valuable contribution for national development.

Mr Fadnavis in particular showered praise on Sri M for his grit, determination and stamina as the Yatra covered over 1200 km in Maharashtra alone. "This should set an example for the youth in terms of commitment and patriotism," he said.

Sri M entered Maharashtra from Kolhapur on 17th May 2015. The 82 days journey through the state spanning 1200 kms has taken him to places like Kolhapur, Sangli, Pandharpur, Akkalkot, Miraj, Solapur, Satara, Ralegansiddhi, Jejuri, Alandi, Ranjangaon Maha Ganapati, Shirdi, Nasik, Trimbakeshwar before entering Gujarat.

Conveying the message that violence and terrorism will not pay, Sri M marched to the German Bakery blast site in Pune to pay respects. In Pune, Sri M also led daylong prayers and fasting, an initiative against terrorism and violence that was joined by hundreds of people. Sri M expressed his gratitude to the people of Maharashtra and said all communities have received the padayatra, through the land of saints and faiths, with overwhelming love and support. Religious and political leaders have expressed their encouragement while extolling the objectives of the Walk. Sri M added that Walk of Hope has evolved into a people's movement wherein people walked together with the padayatra in many places, extending their hospitality to the padayatris and as Walk of Hope enters Gujarat, he is filled with immense hope that the Walk will be able to achieve its extraordinary objectives.

WALK OF HOPE

Spanning 7500 kms through 11 Indian states in 15-18 months, the Walk of Hope is an exercise to restore the innate spirituality of the nation—rekindling true faith and rejuvenating the spirit of hope, love, peace, harmony and oneness. The 'Walk of Hope' brings together citizens and well-wishers from all religions, economic backgrounds and vocations to significantly restore a national sentiment of oneness - 'fit enough to be bequeathed to our future generations'. The Walk of Hope was flagged off on 12 January 2015 from Kanyakumari. The Manav Ekta Mission, established by Sri M, powers the Walk of Hope.

Sri M—spiritual guide, social reformer and educationist—was born into a Muslim family as Mumtaz Ali Khan on November 6, 1949 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. His transformational journey, from a young boy to a living yogi, is a fascinating story symbolized by single-minded discipline and dedication. He travelled to the Himalayas at the age of 19, meeting saints and sages, eventually gaining his spiritual fulfillment under the guidance of Maheshwarnath Babaji. He is married and has two children. His autobiography, Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master—A Yogi's Autobiography, is a bestseller.
