Sankara Eye Hospital, one of the premier eye hospitals in the country dedicated towards making India visually wealthy and eliminating needless blindness is screening RTO employees throughout Yeshwantpur, Hindupur, Indiranagar and KR Puram on the occasion of Road Safety Week from January 22nd to January 31st.
The new Devanahalli RTO took the first step and was the first to be screened by Sankara Eye hospital this year. More than 150 employees from the RTO participated in the Screening as a part of the Road safety Campaign. More than 50% of the employees were found to have refractive errors and nearly 5% of the people were found to have conditions which would require medical interventions and were so advised.
The aim of the screening is to ensure that the employees and staff at RTO who are engaged in a road and traffic management activity have an optimum vision. The work profile requires them to be dependent on vision to be effective and thus vision plays an important part in effectiveness of RTO. The screening will be held in Yeshwantpur on January 22nd, Hindupur on January 28th, Indiranagar on January 29th and KR Puram on January 31stin their respective RTO offices.
Dr Kaushik Murali, Head of Department, Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, Sankara Eye Hospital Bengaluru said, "The screening is crucial for RTO employees as they are the most neglected and have an important role to play to ensure road discipline and approving commuters on road".
The screening in Yeshwantpur will also include eye checkups for auto driver, cab driver and two wheelers who visit the RTO. The screening would include Near and Distance Visual Acuity, Colour Perception, Depth Perception and Refraction & Spectacle Prescription.
