Rites Consortium bags general consultancy to Bangalore Metro

Consortium of RITES Ltd. (India) - PCI (Japan) - PBI (USA) - SYSTRA (France) has been awarded the work of providing "General Consultancy Services" for implementation of "Bangalore Metro Project Phase 1" by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. RITES is leader of the Consortium of the International consultants who are renowned and world leaders in the field of Urban Transport. The Consortium has won this contract under very stiff competition from other International companies.

The total value of the consultancy services is about Rs. 215 crores out of which the RITES’s share is Rs. 126.50 crores (58.8%). In terms of the manmonths, RITES’s share is 8795 manmonths (94% of the total technical manmonths). Consultants will provide advise on system design to commissioning of the project including its integration with the other modes of transport in Bangalore.

The project consists of 33 Km of the Metro network in two corridors, namely East- West corridor (18Km) and North - South Corridor (15km). It includes 7 Km of the underground portion and balance as elevated. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by 31st December 2011. The project is partly being funded by JBIC, Japan.

The present assignment is of much significance and prestige to RITES in view of the fact that RITES is the Leader of the Consortium. RITES was also involved as consortium member in providing the General Consultancy Services for Delhi Metro Project Phase - 1 which has been successfully accomplished. RITES is also providing the consultancy services as member of the Consortium for Delhi Metro Phase - 2 as well as for the Airport Metro Line.
